Innovative LNG Platform WaveCrest Energy Launches To Deliver Natural Gas To Underserved Markets

January 08, 2026

WaveCrest Energy, a newly formed global LNG infrastructure and services provider, has officially launched with a mission to expand access to natural gas in underserved markets across Latin America and Asia. Backed by Macquarie Capital — the corporate advisory, capital markets, and principal investing arm of Macquarie Group — WaveCrest Energy aims to accelerate the development of flexible LNG regasification solutions worldwide.

The company will initially focus on regions where access to affordable and reliable natural gas remains limited due to infrastructure constraints, geographic challenges, or rapid industrial growth. By developing modular LNG terminals, floating storage and regasification solutions (FSRUs), and integrated downstream systems, WaveCrest Energy plans to help local utilities, industries, and governments secure cleaner-burning fuel at competitive prices.

Leadership Built on Deep LNG Expertise

WaveCrest Energy also announced the appointment of Rob Bryngelson — an LNG storage and regasification veteran — as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Bryngelson has decades of experience developing and operating LNG terminals worldwide and brings a track record of delivering complex marine and energy infrastructure projects across multiple continents.

“WaveCrest was created to bring flexible, scalable LNG regasification solutions to markets where traditional infrastructure has been slow or difficult to develop,” said Rob Bryngelson, CEO of WaveCrest Energy. “Our goal is to help underserved regions unlock reliable access to natural gas, supporting economic growth and cleaner energy systems.”

A Strategic Partnership with Macquarie Capital

Macquarie Capital’s involvement provides WaveCrest Energy with access to global financing capabilities, deep sector expertise, and a pipeline of infrastructure opportunities in emerging markets. The partnership underscores Macquarie’s continued commitment to advancing next-generation energy transport and supply solutions.

A Macquarie Capital spokesperson added: “WaveCrest represents an important step in addressing the global need for more secure, environmentally responsible energy access. We are pleased to support a team with the capabilities and vision to reshape LNG availability in high-growth regions.”

Advancing LNG Infrastructure Where It’s Needed Most WaveCrest Energy’s strategy includes: Developing small- to mid-scale LNG import terminals Deploying floating storage and regasification assets Integrating downstream connections for local power plants and industry Partnering with governments and utilities to accelerate natural gas adoption Providing end-to-end commercial and technical support These solutions are designed to reduce project complexity, shorten development timelines, and lower the cost of bringing LNG into new or underserved markets.

Looking Ahead

With strong financial backing, experienced leadership, and a clear mandate to expand global access to natural gas, WaveCrest Energy is poised to become a leading provider of flexible LNG regasification infrastructure. The company’s early focus on Latin America and Asia will help support cleaner energy transitions, new industrial growth, and greater energy security across the regions.
