Phase II of Deutsche ReGas’ Energie-Terminal Deutsche Ostsee in Mukran involved relocating the FSRU Neptune from Lubmin to the industrial deep-water port of Mukran and chartering in a second FSRU, the Power from the German government. It further required the construction of a new mooring jetty as well as topside infrastructure to connect the Energie-Terminal to the newly built 52km underwater pipeline Ostsee-Anbindungsleitung (OAL). OAL connects Mukran port with the critical pipeline infrastructure in Lubmin, Germany ensuring the unique contribution to energy security for Germany and the neighboring central European countries.
Phase II of the Energie-Terminal was equally built in record time of just under six months with jetty and topside construction starting from end of September 2023 onwards with first gas received from the FSRU Power on 1 March 2024.
After a yard stay in June 2024, the FSRU Neptune was relocated to Mukran in July 2024 and together with the FSRU Power provides up to 1.3 billion cubic feet per day of regasification capacity (up to 13.5 billion cubic meters per year of natural gas). This represents an industry first for this terminal with the double banking of two FSRUs in one location for increased capacity, performance, and reliability. The vessels operate as an integrated regasification facility and are connected via high-pressure gas arms to the OAL.
The Energie-Terminal Deutsche Ostsee in Mukran has been in regular operation since September 2024. WaveCrest Energy continued to provide technical support to Deutsche ReGas through the development and construction of the Phase II terminal expansion in Mukran and was awarded equity shares in Deutsche ReGas in compensation for its successful development work.”
